Vietnam is amazing. After arriving to hot and dusty Saigon you feel lost between the 4 million motorbikes of the city. Huge Ficus-Penijng will follow you everywhere. As soon as you live a middle class life they will complete the front and terrace of your house. On the first walk through Saigon this photo was taken in the park outside the large market in the city centre. The size is quite normal for Vietnamese Penjing. Penjing are shaped trees in pots, an art that is of ancient chinese origin. Once exported to Japan they became fashionable in the high society there. Today the perfectionized treatment of potted trees, developped by Japanese enthusiasts over centuries, is know as Bonsai.
